[team two] come on up to the house
“Do you want to come in?” Taiga says as casually as he can, his voice is shaking though. Shirota just looks at him with a raised eyebrow and Taiga swallows hard because he’d thought there was tension, it felt like there was only maybe he’d just imagined it. Shirota did get out of the car and get his bag from the boot for him, but he might have just been being polite. “You drove a long way to drop me off so…”
“It wasn’t that far” Shirota answers and Taiga's heart seems to sag a little. “Besides, I enjoy your company.”
That raises his spirit again, but Shirota still didn't tell him if he wanted to come inside or not. “Would you like anything to drink? We have tea and coffee...or juice...and there's beer in the fridge...” It sounds totally lame and he can feel his cheeks flushing as his voice trails off.
Shirota smiles, strangely amused almost. “I'm driving...”
It seems stupid that Taiga would forget when Shirota is still standing right beside his car. “Of course.” he says, but that feels so final, so decided “My parents are in Osaka for the weekend...” he starts, but then he realises how that sounds and shakes his head. “I'm sorry, I should...thank you for bringing me home.”
He's half way to the door when Shirota calls after him. “Beer would be great.” By the time the words have registered, Shirota has locked his car and caught up to Taiga along the path to the door.
He's at a loss for words, but he smiles shyly as he fumbles with his keys and opens the door to let Shirota in first. Anzu is barking from the living room, and just as Taiga expects she runs straight to the new person for attention as soon as Taiga opens the door for her.
Thankfully, Shirota seems to be a dog person, so Taiga leaves him fussing Anzu and heads into the kitchen to first clear his head and then grab some beers from the fridge. At some point he hears the CD player turn on, and when he heads back into the living room, Shirota is flipping through the CDs on the shelf.
“They're mostly my dad's.” Taiga says in explanation, there's a pretty diverse selection.
Shirota smiles at him as he looks up and takes the beer Taiga offers him. “You're really cute when you're nervous.”
He blushes automatically, but he thinks he smiles a little too. “I get nervous a lot...especially when I'm around Shirota-san”
“Call me Yuu” Shirota says and Taiga shudders a little as he nods. “You like me...”
It's not a question, and Taiga doesn't bother to deny it either. “I hope it won't affect our working relationship.” Taiga says, suddenly aware that it could be awkward given that they'll be working together again for the next few months.
“If anything it should make things easier, I think. After all Rudolf is supposed to be infatuated with Death...but let's not talk about work. I'd like to see your home.”
Taiga gives him a quick tour, sipping nervously on his beer the whole time and by the time they get to his room, Taiga is putting down his empty bottle. “Excuse the mess, I don't often have company in here.” Taiga says, moving laundry and manga volumes from his bed so that Shirota can sit down.
“You don't?” Shirota asks in a mildly surprised voice. When Taiga just shakes his head, Shirota taps the bed beside him until Taiga sits too. “I must say I'm curious about why you invited me back here, if it's unusual for you...”
“Because I like you.” Taiga interrupts. “You know that much already, and I like being around you, being around you feels different to being around other people...I didn't really think it through, I just didn't want to say goodbye just yet.”
“Being around you feels different to me too.” Shirota tells him. “Throughout my career I've worked with so many beautiful and talented people, models, idols, stars, all of them admirable, respectable and mesmerizing...so why is it you that has my heartbeat skipping?” Taiga actually gasps at Shirota's words and when Shirota pulls Taiga's hand to his chest sure enough his heart is beating quickly. “I feel protective over you, I feel proud of you, I feel so excited when I'm around you...but you're barely more than a child.”
“I'm not a child...” Taiga lightly protests but Shirota continues.
“I tried to push it all away, to tell myself you were like a little brother...but every time we kissed something twisted tighter in my stomach. It's getting very hard to keep my cool around you Taiga.”
It's so easy to lean in and press his lips against Shirota's. Taiga must have done it half a hundred times already but what's unusual is the low groan that rumbles up from Shirota's throat as his hand moves up to tangle in Taiga's hair, holding him close to press their lips together again.
Taiga feels as though he's lost in eternity, just Shirota's lips, the passion and ferocity of them, the way they crash desperately against his own lips, the way Shirota's tongue darts out and meets his and then everything is tipping sideways and Taiga is moaning into Shirota's mouth as he hardens, as Anzu barks frantically at his bedroom door.
“Please be clear...how far do you want to go?” Shirota asks from above him, making Taiga whine as he breaks their kiss.
“Not all the way.” Taiga answers without really thinking. “I haven't gone all the way before.”
