[Team 3] get them in line

gettin those words out. 300 words of hq gen because why not? [livejournal.com profile] beltenebra skipped, so it went to me.

"That's how we do everything," Tsukishima complains, collapsing against the wall and sliding to the floor. "There's no planning, nothing logical. Everything's just go go go until presumably we all pass out and die."

Ukai looks down, arms crossed over his chest. "Are you insulting my coaching skills? Sawamura's ideas as captain?"

Tsukishima sighs and rolls his eyes, and Ukai wonders if there's a guilt trip that's ever worked on him.

"Of course I'm not. I don't blame you two for them." He gestures feebly to the court where Hinata and Kageyama haven't stopped tossing and jumping. Shimizu is gamely throwing new balls to them, so they can keep working on their spikes. "If they don't watch it, they're going to sprain something and won't be able to play. Then where will we be?"

Ukai smiles to himself. "Tsukishima, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were concerned."

Tsukishima rolls his eyes again, and Ukai suddenly hears his mother's voice, the one that tells him that if he keeps doing that, they're going to get stuck that way. "Then it's good you do know better."

Ukai laughs and offers Tsukishima a hand up, yanking him back to his feet. "You know, you're right," he says.

"Hmm?" Tsukishima looks confused.

"If they keep going like that without resting, they could hurt themselves," says Ukai.

"Obviously."

"So it's good you still have two years to get them in line before you're captain."

"You're funny," Tsukishima says. He jogs back onto the court to elbow Kageyama and Hinata in the sides. They both yowl indignantly, but it does end their toss-jump-spike cycle. Tsukishima smirks to himself and glances at Ukai on the sidelines, going a little red when he sees Ukai's still watching.

It's true; he is funny. He's also right.
