[team sonic] let the rain come down

Starting words from Weather Patterns
Warning for vampires and cheating.

“Smells like rain.” Hokuto sighs, face turned up to the star-strewn sky by the open window. Taiga can hear the apathy in his velveteen voice. Hokuto doesn’t like rain. Hokuto doesn’t like many things these days. He doesn’t like Taiga, not enough anyway.

They used to dance in the rain, in centuries past. They used to kiss, fangs scraping each other lips as they clumsily devoured each other. It was raining the first night that they met, Taiga drawing his horse up by the side of the road to offer assistance to the lonely traveller. Hours later it was raining harder as Hokuto’s lips closed around his throat, teeth searing his flushed skin.

He shakes his head, clearing the memories of a lifetime ago and he gets to his feet to join Hokuto by the window. He leans in to kiss him softly, his lips meeting Hokuto’s soft pale cheek as the other turns his head just so. “Shall we go out and feed? My love.” he asks, swallowing down the pang of rejection.

“I’m not hungry.” Is Hokuto’s reply and he closes the window and turns for the bed. It was his appetite that went first, even before the melancholy set in, Hokuto had lost his thrill for the chase, his desire for blood, for life. Taiga still has needs though.

“Shall I bring you someone home?” Hokuto gives a non-committal hum and closes his eyes. Taiga just nods to nobody and reaches for his coat. “Goodnight then.”

The first splashes of water fall as Taiga’s boot meets the pavement, getting heavier as he weaves his way through alleys and side streets to the familiar, dingy little bar. It feels comforting in a way that a place has never been for Taiga, Hokuto has always been his comfort. Had been, even long after Hokuto’s warmth faded. Now Hokuto’s presence is sadness, regret, a gaping hole that threatens to drag Taiga into it’s murky depths.

A voice brings a smile to the corners of his lips. It’s tone light and friendly, warm. “The usual?” it asks and Taiga feels something stirring in his barren chest as he nods, takes the warm hand that is offered to him.

It’s still raining when he leaves, hours later, Juri’s name still tingling against his lips, the feeling of his skin still etched into the tips of his fingers, his taste still warm on Taiga’s tongue. He’s glad it’s raining, Hokuto doesn’t like the rain, but it will wash the scent of the human from Taiga skin, wash away his shame.
