[team three]

Sorry this is late. Didn’t want to skip again, though.

In an alternate universe, Taiga gets to play Der Tod in Elisabeth.

The waves of long silvery hair falls past Taiga’s shoulders, and he watches from the mirror as Shirota’s hands slowly withdraw from his scalp. It frames Taiga’s face with an ethereal crown, and under the glow of the lights, Shirota’s gaze is laced with something like desire mixed with awe.

“Admiring your handiwork?” Taiga quips, the playful smile on his lips perfectly masking his apprehension. Shirota returns his smile, but it’s more earnest, and the older man puts his hands on Taiga’s shoulders to turn him around and give him a reassuring squeeze.

“I’ve only done half of it,” Shirota says. “You’re stunning enough on your own, and the role fits you.” He holds Taiga’s cheek with one hand as he addresses Taiga’s hidden fears, seeing through the younger man’s act because they know each other so well.

“I’m not afraid of the role, or of falling short of your portrayal,” Taiga clarifies. “Sensei allowed me to do it, and I’ve prepared for it under his care.” If Taiga is sure of anything, it’s with this: the confidence that comes with hard work and with considerable preparation.

“It’s just lonely without you,” he finally admits, leaning into Shirota’s touch.

“Ah, I already miss working with everyone,” his words turn nostalgic, “but I’m happy that it’s you. It’s all your hard work starting to pay off, Taiga, and I’m sure you’d make a great Der Tod.” Shirota says it with the utmost certainty, staring into Taiga’s eyes with so much affection.
