[Team One] Contemplating

Well, the kouhai sent me stuff, so the kouhai gets some stuff. lol this makes sense I swear.

"And away we go!" A group of boys shuffled past him. Sakuma turned to look at the retreating backs of the little Juniors who had just come out of the doctor’s room.

A wave of nostalgia washed over him and he closed his eyes for a moment, fighting down some of the emotions those memories brought with them. He had been in the same position as those young ones many years ago. This had been the day when his life hadn’t drastically changed but when the gears that would be deciding his future had started to turn.

It had been the day when the doctor had told him his secondary gender.

For most boys in JE it was merely a formality. It was a widely known fact that old man Kitagawa had always picked alphas without fail. People had said that he could see into the boys’ futures and see their potential. It was partially true. The other part was a bit less ‘mysterious’.

Of course that didn’t mean that everyone in JE was an alpha. The old man did not handpick all of the boys after all. But those whom he had chosen in the past were sure to be alphas.

Or so one would have thought.

It had been what Sakuma had thought until he had opened the envelope.

His smile had not faltered but inwardly he had never felt so anxious in his life. Both his parents were alphas, his older brother was an alpha and he was sure his younger one would turn out to be one as well. And yet here he was.

‘Omega’

The symbol seemed to glare at him from the paper it had been printed on.

For the first time in his life, he had lied to his parents. The only people who knew the truth, apart from Sakuma himself, were the doctor, Johnny himself and whoever Johnny had told. Sakuma had the feeling that the old man hadn’t really told anyone else. Not after Sakuma had found out - or rather sensed - the old man’s own secret.

‘Takes one to know one.’

Nothing had changed for many years. And for a while, Sakuma had thought that the whole secondary gender thing had been a fluke. Nothing of what he had learned about omegas ever happened to him. There were no heat periods, no pheromones, nothing. But he dutifully took the medication and suppressants the doctor gave him anyways. Just in case.

But then things had changed. And of course a million things had happened at the same time.

Johnny being on the verge of death.

Tackey becoming essentially the new boss.

New members.

Debut.

Iwamoto Hikaru.

Sakuma touched the back of his neck. A special patch covered the area - they were idols after all, unbonded as far as the general public was concerned. But in reality, he belonged only to one person. And Hikaru had marked him - not too long ago.

After their first kind of botched up time in the love hotel after rehearsals, he and Iwamoto had sat down to talk about things. So many things were happening after all, important things for the group and whatnot. And they had made a decision.

“What are you doing zoning out in the corridor like this?” Someone bumped into him from behind and Sakuma turned his head up and then smiled at Iwamoto lopsidedly.

“Hi Hikaru!”

A frown appeared on Iwamoto’s face. “Is everything okay? You don’t seem like yourself.”

Sakuma straightened up again and shook his head. “I’m fine. Just lost in thought for a moment. I’ll be back to being my loud and energetic self in a few minutes.”

“If you say so,” Iwamoto snorted softly.

They walked over to the rehearsal studio they would be using for the day. Just before Sakuma could step inside, Iwamoto reached out to trace the bite mark on the back of Sakuma’s neck with his finger. Sakuma shivered in response.

“D-Don’t,” Sakuma breathed softly.

“Sorry,” Iwamoto apologized and withdrew his hand. “I can’t help it.

Iwamoto’s possessive side was something new they had both discovered. After all, they had known each other for many years now. And yet, their new relationship had made them see sides of each other they had not known before. Sides of themselves they had not known had existed until now. It was comforting to have each other around for this new discovery process.

“Wait until we’re done with work. Then you can renew it if you like,” Sakuma looked at Iwamoto over his shoulder. “You can stay over at my place.”
