[Team 1] Scary Sisters and Sleepy Sick Days
a little over 1k of g-rated Sk8 Langa pining over Reki while dealing with his first one on one (on one on one) interaction with Reki's sisters.
Langa had spent the night, not looking forward to walking home in the rain. And reki hadn't minded, curling up and clinging to Langa all through the night, his warmth nice in the cool rainy season.
Though at the moment, Reki felt a little too warm.
"Reki?" Langa murmurs, trying to wake his friend. "You ok?"
Reki grunted, only half awake. Blinking tiredly up at Langa, he frowned. "Cold…"
Langa was pushed back to the bed as reki climbed more in top of him, his head snuggling into Langa's chest and his hands clutching at Langa's shirt.
"Oh." Okay then. Langa could stay for a little longer.
Reki did seem a little warm though.
"Reki? Are you awake sweetie? You promised to watch the girls today while I—”
Langa floundered as Reki's mom opened the door, both of them staring awkwardly at each other for a moment before Mrs. Kyan smiled gently.
"Oh Langa, I didn't know you spent the night."
"Uh yeah…. It was kinda uh spontaneous."
Reki mumbled irritably at the conversation, digging further into Langa's chest.
"Oh dear," Reki’s mom muttered, walking over and laying a hand on Reki’s forehead. "Oh dear, reki has a bit of a fever. I'm sorry, Langa. He gets a bit clingy when he's unwell. I can see if he'll let go for one of the girls."
"No," Langa protested, tightening his own hold on Reki. The boy in his arms hummed contentedly nuzzling Langa’s shirt. "I'm ok. This is fine."
“Oh well, if you’re sure…” Mrs. Kyan grinned. “Thank you, Langa. I was going to run to the store, but with Reki sick…”
“We’ll be okay for five minutes Mom…” One of Reki’s younger sisters said from the door frame. “Or like… twenty. I think I can keep the twins away from the stove for, like, twenty minutes.”
“Oh dear,” Mrs. Kyan did not sound reassured.
“Um…” Langa spoke up. “You can, uh… they can sit in here? Where I can keep an eye on them. I can pull up videos on my phone and—”
“Yeah, mom!” Reki’s sister sounded excited. “Reki’s boyfriend can keep an eye on us!”
Langa felt his face heat up and he was glad that Reki seemed to be sleeping through this embarrassment. “I uh… I’m not—”
Reki’s sister rolled her eyes. “Fine. Reki’s almost-boyfriend can watch us.”
That didn’t sound much better.
But it did seem to reassure Reki’s mom, at least for a quick trip to the store with Reki’s grandmother, and Reki’s sister ushered the twins into the room. When no more children followed, Langa let out a sigh of relief. There were no other Kyan children hiding somewhere.
The twins’ stare still freaked him out a little though, and he struggled to smile. “Uh… hi. I’m, uh—”
“Langa!” The twins shouted leaping onto the bed.
“Reki talks about you alot.”
“Did you really come from the ocean?”
“Are you part snow monster?”
“Do you skateboard like Reki?”
“What do snow monsters eat?”
“Do you love Reki?”
At that question, the twins seemed to peter out of their interrogation and were patiently waiting for answers. The older sister stood just behind them a smirk on her face that reminded Langa a bit of Miya.
“Uh… Ummm… I came from across the ocean. And I’m not a snow monster, but I am Canadian. Which is uh, a country across the ocean. I skateboard with Reki. He taught me how. Snow monsters eat poutine! And uh—” Langa faltered at their last question. “I uh…”
“There’s only one right answer,” one twin pointed out.
“And it better be ‘yes.’”
“Otherwise we’ll eat you.”
Langa believed them.
“I, uh… yes. I love Reki. A lot.” It wasn’t even a lie to save his skin from toddlers. He did love Reki. A lot. More than he thought he could love anyone besides his parents.
If only he could get the courage to say that.
“Good!” One twin exclaimed.
“Cause Reki loves you too!”
“Oh, does he?” Langa raised a hand to run through Reki’s hair. Reki continued to sleep, unaware of the chaos surrounding them.
“Reki doesn’t get clingy with just anyone you know.” The older sister said kneeling down at the bedside so she could reach out and poke Reki’s cheek. “And he doesn’t talk about anyone the way he talks about you. I think he loves you a lot too.”
“A lot a lot!” The twins echoed. “Like how Prince Langa loves Cindereki!”
If Langa thought his face was red before, now it felt like it was on fire. Prince?? What??
But before he got the chance to ask, all three of Reki’s sisters leveled him with a glare. Langa gulped, wondering if this was the moment he’d get eaten.
“You promise not to doing something dumb and make him go mopey again. Right?” The older sister asked.
Langa blinked at the sincerity and abruptness of the question, and he quickly nodded. “I promise. I wouldn’t— I didn’t mean to. I didn’t like it when Reki wasn’t talking to me. Felt like every day was rainy…”
Unconsciously, he held Reki closer.
But his sisters seemed satisfied and the oldest held her pinky out.
“You really really promise?”
Langa chuckled, raising one hand to lock pinkies with the girl. “I promise, uh… um…”
Belatedly, he realized he didn’t know her name.
The girl blinked for a moment before sighing in exasperation. “I’m Koyomi. That’s Nanaka and Chihiro. Nanaka wears pink, Chihiro yellow. Unless it’s opposite day.”
Oh. Langa tried to remember that. Reki’s sisters were important to Reki, so they would be important to Langa too.
Even if they scared him a bit.Next up is
knittenkitten! Your line is "Even if they scared him a bit."
With Reki warm and real next to him, there’s nowhere else he’d rather be. Especially on a lazy Saturday morning after a Friday night 'S' meet. Shadow had been kind enough to drive them home after a rainstorm had broken out on the track during Reki's beef against Miya. The beef had been close as Miya also had on grooved wheels in the hopes of such a rainstorm. In the end, Reki came out on top, leaping from his board into Langa's waiting arms. It had become their customary celebration hug after a beef, and Langa would change that for anything.
