Been a while since I was able to write anything, but I managed to get some words out this time for a tiny unfinished and plotless Wangxian fic :)

"Another round for me and my lo—"

"Wei Ying." Lan Wangji's voice silences him immediately. Wei Wuxian lowers his glass and looks over. He doesn't meet his gaze. Right, of course.

"My friend Hanguang Jun!" Wei Wuxian amends and, leaning closer to his lover, whispers, "Sorry, Lan Zhan. I forgot for a second."

Lan Wangji simply nods and gives a small smile reserved only for him. It's not that he's ashamed of him, Wei Wuxian knows that. He's just a private person, and doesn't like people meddling in his business. And in the circles they run in, people love meddling — and gossip. As soon as someone catches wind of their relationship, the word will spread like wildfire. That's why they've kept this piece of information to their closest, who will not run their mouths. Zewu Jun, Wen Ning, and Jin Ling among them. Jin Ling is very obnoxious about it and has almost blurted out that his uncle is Hanguang Jun in an argument with another young cultivator, but managed to keep it to himself — and Wei Wuxian simply wouldn't be capable of hiding it from such a curious young man.

Wei Wuxian hasn't spoken of it to Jiang Cheng, but he suspects he already knows. Their relationship is still somewhat tense even now, so it hasn't come up in conversation, but Wei Wuxian trusts him to not spread the word simply because he's not interested in sharing it with others — unless perhaps he gets heated enough, which could always happen.

It's a bit of a challenge to Wei Wuxian to not share, because he just wants to flaunt his handsome, incredible lover, the great Hanguang Jun. He wants to shout it from the rooftops, but he also wants to respect Lan Wangji's wish. And it's true that privacy in such matters is hard to come by once it's out, and Wei Wuxian may have had his fill of attention since the Yiling days. He doesn't want it to affect Lan Wangji's reputation either. He can practically hear the mean-spirited comments about all the things Lan Wangji did for the Yiling Patriarch. Things may have cleared up, but there are still those who think badly of him. It's not fair, but it's the truth.
