[Team Four] Blood
Couldn't finish this in time, but at least got to a decent ending point!
INTO1, Liu Yu/Nine, T, 357w
Final words: "We — no, I won't forgive you if you die."

INTO1, Liu Yu/Nine, T, 357w
Final words: "We — no, I won't forgive you if you die."
Liu Yu's side is bleeding, but he doesn't have the time to deal with it yet. The shadows are relentless, lashing out at him with dark tendrils that leave stinging burns on his skin. It's all he can do to make sure they don't trap him, dodging and slashing and desperately parrying the assault as he silently tries to count down the seconds in his mind.
But in the end, he still loses track of time. The minutes seem to blur together into a singular, interminable moment, and the only things keeping him going are instinct and the sheer will to not die. He just has to hold out until dawn gets here. Until —
The ray of light that pierces the darkness has the shadows shrieking in pain as they start to retreat, but it takes Liu Yu a moment before he realises he's made it. He hasn't won, per se, but he's alive, and is there more of a victory than that? His shoulders are shaking as he stumbles towards the now-clear doorway, hand coming up to press against the wound on his side with a hiss of pain. It's still bleeding, and he can see streak of his blood scattered over the floor and slashed over the walls.
The wound might be a little deeper than he thought it was.
"Xiaoyu!"
The voice sounds distant, but its frantic fear has Liu Yu forcing open eyes he hadn't even realised he'd closed. Even after he does, though, the dark spots blotting out his vision don't let him make out anything more than a vague shape hurtling towards him. "Xiaojiu…" His voice comes out so weak and thready that he's surprised by it. A tiny gasp of relief slips from his lips when he feels warm, protective arms surrounding him, and a hand presses over his own to keep pressure on his wound.
"I'm here. I'm here, baobei, stay with me, okay?" Nine's voice is thick with tears. Liu Yu wants to say something to comfort him, but his voice won't come, stopped up somewhere in his throat. "We — no, I won't forgive you if you die."
