[Team two] Untitled
I've discovered 7ORDER, a.k.a. the boys who didn't want to be Johnny's Jrs forever, and my old affection for Yasui was reawakened. Thus, this fic.
Juri/Yasui, slightly fluffy G, idk how many words as I wrote this on my phone lol.
"Looking for something specific, sir? If it's shower gel, may I recommend this new brand? It keeps the skin marvelously soft and hydrated."
Startled, Juri spins around towards the familiar voice. Behind him stands Yasui, holding up a fancy-looking bottle of shower gel and grinning from ear to ear.
"You!" Juri exclaims before he can stop himself. Sure, they both belong in a couple separate LINE group chats where they sometimes hear how the other is doing, but they've both been too busy to meet face-to-face for a long time.
Has it already been a year? No, even more than that. How does time pass so fast these days? It was when Yasui invited Juri to a 7order concert during their latest tour, so almost two years already? Juri managed to make it, but they didn't really have much time to talk then, even when he visited the backstage after the concert.
And Juri wants to talk. There's so much to ask, so many funny events he wants to tell Yasui about. So naturally, what he manages to say is, "Where did you come from?"
Yasui shows him the contents of a small shopping basket he's carrying. "Just on my way home from work. I've been at the recording studio since eight this morning, but I really needed to do some shopping."
His words make Juri smile. "You seem to be doing good, leader. I always watch you guys' new videos on your Youtube channel."
Yasui's smile softens at that, and Juri feels his heart squeeze with joy for him, because he recognizes that look of being finally home. It's the same look he sees on his own members' faces every time they meet up.
"I could say the same. I've even subscribed to your channel so I can at least see your handsome face on video every now and then."
Juri laughs, appreciating the teasing while feeling the small flirt awaken a familiar flutter in his stomach. There's another thing that hasn't changed, and Juri is excited to feel it again.
For years, there used to be this funny atmosphere of delicate tension between them. Like there might be potential for something between them if they ever allowed it to happen. They never did - there were always so many other things going on around them, and then their careers took them separate ways. But now that things are getting stabler...maybe?
"Are you busy? Would you have time for a beer?" Juri asks, fully meaning it but also ready to turn the invitation into a joke if needed.
Yasui turns around to put away the fancy bottle of shower gel before looking at Juri again, and there it is. That look, like a question in Yasui's eyes. It's been there since forever; never pressuring, never especially desperate for an answer. Just an honest offering in case Juri wants to accept it.
Yasui makes a genuinely disappointed face. "Can't tonight. I have to go do some laundry and all that stuff. I won't have time for that during weekend. But," he adds quickly, "Some other evening next week?"
"Thursday?"
"Got it."
Juri picks one of the various brands of shower gel, and they proceed through the cashier and out of the shopping mall.
It's already dark outside when they slowly stroll side by side towards the nearest train station. The display windows of various shops along the road are lavishly decorated with pumpkins, spiders, and ghosts. Within a week they will all be gone, replaced by bells, baubles and tiny Santa Clauses.
Juri's mind offers him cute images of a Christmas date, complete with presents and a strawberry cake. Thankfully, Yasui can't read his thoughts. His attention is completely on the story he's telling; it's about something funny that Sanada and Morohoshi just did at their dance rehearsal this week.
They stop at the entrance of the underground train station. From there on they'll continue to opposite directions. Juri will have to go down the stairs, while Yasui is going to cross the road to get to his side of the railroad.
Juri isn't quite ready for that yet. He wants to listen to more of Yasui's stories despite the cold wind that freezes his ears and makes his lips feel dry and chapped.
As he listens, he pushes his hands into the pockets of his jeans, searching.
"Shit, I forgot," he murmurs when his fingertips only meet his keys.
Yasui stops in the middle of his sentence. "Hmm?"
"I meant to buy a new lip balm too," Juri sighs. "I dropped the old one into a puddle on the dressing room floor after showering, so I threw it away."
Yasui chuckles. "You're welcome to borrow mine if you don't mind that it's tinted pink."
Juri glances at him, raising one brow. "Have I ever?"
"Never."
Juri accepts the offered tube of lip balm. It looks familiar - Yasui has preferred that same brand since he was about twenty. It colors his lips shiny and cute, and... He really shouldn't think about Yasui's lips too much right now.
As he applies the lip balm, he catches Yasui looking at him, expression quietly affectionate. The question is still there, calm but hopeful.
Finally, after all these years, Juri has an answer for him.
He hands the lip balm back, deliberately brushing Yasui's hand with his own fingertips while doing so.
"See you next week then."
I've missed you, is what he doesn't say, but the way Yasui's eyes light up shows that he understands anyway.
Juri feels warm and fuzzy the whole way home.
thesecretdoor it's your turn! The last sentence is "Juri feels warm and fuzzy the whole way home."
