[team three] we have(n't) always lived in the castle(, but we live here now)
Gen; The Skull - Jon Klassen; G; 48 words (3 sentence fiction)
“…then,” Otilla told the skull, “we all lived happily every after.”
“But what about—?” the skull began, but Otilla interrupted him, even as the thoughts swam up in her head, don’t think about […], don’t think about it.
“This is my home now,” Otilla said, and she meant it.
Notes: The title is a play on We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. This was also written for the 3-sentence fic prompt for January: "losing an important item", and also posted to Squidgeworld.
Last word(s): “This is my home now,” Otilla said, and she meant it.
