I continue to be obsessed with Ultraman Arc 😅

Yuma/Ishido; g-rated; I think it's around 400 words or less

"This," Yuma begins, hands still hidden behind his back, "is for you."

Ishido holds his breath, wondering what it could be. He's surprised that Yuma has a present for him. It's not even his birthday.

"Ta-da!" Yuma looks proud as he carefully reveals a coffee mug. "I saw this at the store yesterday and thought of you."

Ishido takes the gift and looks it over. It's white ceramic with a print on the front which reads crabby until I get my coffee. There's also, predictably, an image of a crab to accompany the words.

"You think I'm crabby?"

"No!" Yuma exclaims.

"Yes," Rin interjects from her desk, grinning.

Ishido glares at her briefly (probably proving her point) before he turns his attention back to Yuma.

"Actually, I just thought the crab was cute," he explains as he sheepishly scratches the back of his head.

Ishido takes a closer look at the mug again. It's a bright red cartoonish crab with excessively large eyes, holding a mini coffee mug in its claw.

It is kinda cute.

"And you drink a lot of coffee, so you can never have too many coffee mugs, right?" Yuma adds quickly. Now he looks a little nervous, like he's not sure he should have given the gift.

Ishido doesn't want to seem ungrateful because he's genuinely thrilled that Yuma thought about him like this.

"You're absolutely right. Thank you."

The way Yuma's whole face lights up at the praise is wonderful. Ishido is drawn to it like a moth to flame, and it takes all his willpower to keep from staring.

"I think I'll use this cup right now," he says, heading towards the coffeemaker instead.

"Wouldn't that be like your fifth cup today?" Rin chimes in again, smirking at him.

"You're right," Ishido nods. "I'm already behind schedule. This thoughtful gift will help me catch up."

Yuma smiles and returns to his desk. "I'm glad you like it, Shu."

A quiet settles over the office again as everyone returns to their work. Ishido slowly sips his coffee from his new mug, savoring the taste.

There is nothing special about the mug. He probably has a dozen similar ones scattered around his apartment. He's never cared for anything fancy. As long as it holds coffee, he's happy with it.

But this mug was a gift. From Yuma. Something he specifically picked out with Ishido in mind.

And that makes it the best coffee mug he's ever had.
