[Team four] Chop, chop
Back on my Ultraman Arc grind π this is a little post-canon thing I will maybe flesh out in the future
Yuma/Shu, g-rated, around 300ish words
"It seems like we need a bigger axe," Yuma says, winded, as he leans over to catch his breath. "Or maybe... softer wood?"
He glares at the seemingly endless pile of firewood left to chop.
Shu laughs, stepping forward to pick up the axe Yuma just discarded. "I don't think it works like that."
He sets up the next log slated to be split, and takes aim.
"You're the one who volunteered to help Mr. Numata around the Inn," Shu reminds him. He raises the axe above his head and then swings it downwards. It gets stuck immediately in the top of the wood instead of slicing through.
Shu frowns.
"Well, I mean, I think we owe Mr. Numata and Miss Ayaka," Yuma continues, "but I sorta assumed it would be like, cleaning or something. Not replenishing the firewood supply."
The axe remains stubbornly stuck even though Shu gives it a good shake. Yuma steps forward to help dislodge it, and Shu takes care not to accidentally hurt either of them with the tool.
"We should think of this as a learning experience," Shu says, trying to muster up the enthusiasm that Yuma is usually brimming with.
"I'm learning that I have no upper arm strength."
Shu makes a second attempt at splitting the piece of wood, and he's more successful this time. Yuma throws the two pieces into the pile of firewood, and Shu grabs the next one. The pile of firewood left to chop remains dauntingly large.
"You know, I think Arc would be good at this," Shu says. "He has... laser beams and stuff."
The second attempt at splitting wood goes just about the same as the first one.
Yuma laughs. "What? Maybe if you want to incinerate all of it."
"Ask Rution if he'll help us out," Shu continues, already feeling his muscles start to ache from lifting the axe. No wonder Yuma gave up so quickly.
"No," Yuma laughs. "I don't think he can chop firewood."
"Anything's possible with the power of imagination, right?" Shu teases, and both of them descend into a giggling fit like a pair of teenagers.
Shu sets the axe down and stretches his arms. They're not making very good progress, but at least they're having fun.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! We got the identity reveal so late in the series, we never had a chance for anyone to tease Yuma about Arc. I had to fix that π

Yeah, itβs really too bad. More affectionate teasing is required!!
