[Team four] Where I'm supposed to be
Snippet of a Gozyuger fic focused on Ryuugi between episodes 29 & 31. He's not having a Good Time. Sorry Ryuugi!
No 1 Sentai Gozyuger; about 300 words; g-rated
The hospital looks just the same as Ryuugi remembers.
The same long hallways that echo with each footstep. The same bland chairs in the waiting rooms. The same smell of disinfectant, the kind that clings to your clothes even after you change out of your scrubs for the day.
Ryuugi never wanted to come back here.
But what choice does he have? He challenged Hoeru and lost the GozyuTyranno ring. Any assistance he could have provided Tegasword is long gone now. So he can't go back to the café. He can't bring himself to face the others again.
Sighing, Ryuugi slips on the white doctor's coat, taking care to smooth out any wrinkles in the sleeves, lest he get lectured by his father for not looking his best. He misses his robes and the kitchen apron he used to wear over top to protect from splatter while cooking in the café.
His hospital clothes are too stiff. Ryuugi feels like he can't move in these, like all his joints have become wooden.
Just like a doll.
"Don't be slacking off now," his father's voice cuts in, stern as always as he enters the room. "We have important business to attend to today."
"Of course, Father," Ryuugi replies dutifully.
He makes sure his badge is securely in place, and then follows him down the hallway, heading towards their first patient of the day.
Ryuugi misses his friends. Hoeru's grouchy frowns over breakfast contrasting with Kinjirou's enthusiastic "good morning" greeting. The way Rikuo takes a certain seat at the counter and flashes him his best idol smile. Sumino quietly scrolling through something on her phone as she sips on a latte. Mashiro's insane insistence on dousing everything in honey, so frequently that Ryuugi had started keeping a little stock of bottles behind the counter.
Ryuugi shakes away those memories. He can't let himself dwell on them now. He's a doctor with important work to do.
This is where he's supposed to be.
