Useful information for Dreamwidth
How is
writetomyheart being backed up onto Dreamwidth?
About once a week, the LiveJournal community is being manually imported into the Dreamwidth archive comm writetomyheartarchive using Dreamwidth’s import function. You can find more information about this on their f.a.q. post. Basically, what this does is copy over all content, permissions, tags and comments using OpenID (f.a.q. post) which allows for content to be attributed to the correct person and also for that person to "claim" that content if they would like to.
How do I access these posts credited to my LiveJournal OpenID?
All you need to do is log in with your LiveJournal OpenID here. (What is an OpenID?) Now you’ll be able to access the backed up posts and comments on writetomyheartarchive, as well as post new comments in other journals/communities, post in communities (but not your own journal because you don’t have one), subscribe to journals/communities, and be given access to locked journals/communities.
I have a Dreamwidth account/I’m making a Dreamwidth account and I’d like the backed up posts and comments to be attributed to me
All you need to do is claim your OpenID account with your Dreamwidth account. You can do that here. Note that you can claim more than one OpenID account with the same Dreamwidth account, which might be useful! You'll need to log into your LiveJournal account to claim the OpenID. Remember that once you do this, you can't undo it, so make sure you're claiming the OpenID with a Dreamwidth account you want to have posted the shiritori back up posts/comments. This process won't add anything to your Dreamwidth journal, it will just change it so that anything posted/commented under that LiveJournal openID account, whether already imported or any future imports, will appear as being posted/commented by the Dreamwidth account you've now permanently associated with that OpenID.
I’m new to this Dreamwidth thing. Help!
Check out this really helpful Guide to Dreamwidth for LiveJournal users, which takes you from creating a Dreamwidth account, claiming OpenIDs, importing your journal/community content and comments, and features that aren’t available on LiveJournal.
If you have any more questions, you can consult the Dreamwidth Support page, which houses an extensive F.A.Q. as well as known issues, common problems, and how to ask for help. I’d also be happy to help if I’m able, and you can contact me by email. You can also post a comment below.
