Hey guys! Lately I've been having to contact people from various teams for one reason or another, and since we're up to 7 teams and Ansa's busy and stuff, honestly I don't know a lot of you, or what the best way to contact you, or that you have a completely different LJ vs Twitter handle or whatever. It's a little stressful! And it's been a long time since we had an information post.

Could you guys help me out? Could you please comment here with what the best/fastest way to contact you is, and then list a secondary way? And also if you need poked directly when it is your turn. For example:

I don't need poked, I check LJ every day.

I'm sure this will help out your team leaders too, because several of them have mentioned that they messaged a teammate and never heard back, so that must not be the best way to get an answer.

Honestly, guys, it would be super duper nice if teammates routinely told the next person directly that it's their turn, because I am only one Mousi! Lately I feel like I'm the shiritori police bugging everybody all the time, and it makes me feel kind of like a jerk. Things just run a lot smoother when you guys are bugging each other instead.

cairistiona's since last Sunday.

Also between running two teams and homework I haven't been making much of an effort to restart Sonic, so heads-up that anybody can do that if they want and no posts for it are active! You can start with whatever words you want and everything.

This is a quick announcement that may interest you! We're in the process of reshuffling, but some people are interested in a "slow team" where the writing time would be 5 days instead of 3 days. Shiritori is generally supposed to be speedy, where writers can have three days to write their drabble or always have the option to skip, but we know that a few of you might be busy and be interested in a slightly longer writing time. We'll want to keep this team quite small, just so that it doesn't drag too much, but if you're interested please fill out this poll (results are not publicly viewable so don't be shy! We'd like to form this team as a part of the reshuffle if there's enough interest. Just to clarify, this would a regular team, not an extra team like team sonic, it would just be a little different in that it would have a longer writing period.

By entering your username in the poll, you understand that you won't now necessarily be on a team with people who write the same fandoms/people you know.

Back in September 2013, the previous leader of Shiritori - the most excellent

goodbeylover - signalled her intention to hand over the running of this writing community onto someone else, and having joined in 2012 and fallen in love with the game, I stepped in to continue it.

It's been a hectic two and some years since I began my tenure as leader of Shiritori - the coming and going of writers, the addition of a new game, etc. - but now I'm finding that I don't and will not have the time to devote to this as much as I would like. So, rather than dragging you all down in upcoming rounds by not being around, with this post I am officially tendering my resignation as leader of Shiritori.

As such, if anyone think they have the will and perseverance to run Shiritori, please state your intentions by leaving a comment in the section below!

This is an entire round too late, but owing to a change in lifestyle,

xingphonic has decided to step away completely from Shiritori.

This does mean that Team Two is now down to 3 players, which isn't exactly ideal. Would there be any member from Teams 1 or 3 who wouldn't mind switching teams to help balance the teams out again? Or would it be better to reshuffle the groupings again, even though we only did one two months ago?

Unfortunately, due to life-ing constraints,

defiancebyfire has dropped out of Shiritori (T__T). Ordinarily, this would just be a "Dear Team X, please take note that your line-up has changed slightly" post, but as her withdrawal has meant Team 4 is now down to 4 players, this is doubling as a "Would someone be a life-saver and offer to switch teams so the line-ups are more balanced?" plea.

Failbot!Mod apologises for having been away from most means of contact recently u_u Failbot!Mod has no excuses to make, and hopes that her return will make up for her Failbot-ness u_u

Firstly, a mahoosive thanks to everyone who left messages signing themselves back up for the next round of Shiritori, which excitingly includes new!! people!! (Or new blood, as ex-mod Rinbean used to call them~ ww) I will get to work sorting people out into groups soon, and the announcement of new teams will go up at zero hundred hour GMT on July 1st.

In the meantime, I believe team 3 still have two people left on the current turn. If we could establish what's happening with them before July 1st, I would be much obliged~

Otherwise, that's all from Failbot!Mod for the time being, and if all things progress smoothly, you shall hear from me again at midnight on July 1st with the new team line-ups!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the line-up has changed a little, with members being moved from Team 5 into the other teams. Please take a note of who is after you, just to be sure who to tag. For the most part, there shoudn't be any change - just a heads up to individuals at the end or one from the end of a team's line-up.

TO BE A GOOD MOD~♪

~~(Someone remind me again why anyone thought it was a good idea to let me be mod?)~~

Anyway~!

We are now half-way done with the summer (I know I'm 10923847% done with this heat and humidity business we have going on in Taiwan OTL) and I've seen an upward trend in skipping and forgetting to skip turns in each of the teams!!! ((((；゜Д゜))) Of course, I know that because it's the summer holidays for most of us and we've all got stuff going on so it's inevitible, but it's still very sad to see this community lag a little 。：゜(；´∩｀；)゜：。

Because of this, I was wondering if you guys thinks it's time for a little shake-up, or if we should try to push through this rough patch for a little longer... 《ﾟДﾟ》 Everyone please tell me what you think~ (o・・o)/

Also, I was thinking of re-implementing the team leaders system~ Would it be better to start that now, or shall we wait for whenever we get a new line-up to start that again? (⊙△⊙✿)

Since the majority of you said that you wouldn't mind a major reshuffle, in that case I'm going to end this round with the current members once Team 2 and Team 3 have finished this round. Team 2 now has

rikikomori left to go.

There will be a separate, possibly new sparkly sign-up post - be sure to look out for that in the near future and jot your name down. I will only work out a new schedule with people who put their names down.

It's been three months since we started this new line-up and we've had people dropping out due to real life issues~ ~~(:< Please come back soon?)~~

As a result, we're now down to 12 players and three options:
a) carry on with the current line-up (and have grossly uneven teams).
b) do a minor re-shuffle with the current players.
c) do a major re-shuffle with the current players + any new players.

Okay, so this was going to be a sign-up post, but after some thought last night, I figured it's better to do this now rather than wait and stew on it.

So for the first bit,

noella84 is taking a break from Shiritori, which puts me down a captain. This leaves me as the only active mod/team captain at the moment, and brings me up to the second and major bit.

I'm looking for someone to take over Shiritori.

When Kara and I made this comm, we expecting a game that'd go a couple rounds and then die out, tbh 8D;; Which is not what happened! I've been amazed at how many writers that have joined shiritori, thanks guys ♥

Anyway, long story short, I've been dealing with some other stuff in life ~~humberto~~ and I've not been a very good mod. I'd love to hand the comm off to someone else who'll keep it running smoothly (though, sentimental one that I am, I'll retain ownership of the comm) and I'll be around to answer questions and all that. There will also be need for at least one more team captain as well, so leave a comment if you're interested in being either. Sign-ups and all that will appear after things get worked out.

I am here to make an announcement regarding breaking the shiritori chain because this has been popping up recently.

First of all, a reminder! There are two ways to break the shiritori chain and "fail" (for lack of a better word) your turn:
1. you end your drabble with a proper noun (people, places, items that are specific to an AU)
2. you alter the beginning of your drabble too much. We already have some allowances in place for the more difficult tenses of words (you can i. use up to the entire final sentence of the drabble before yours, ii. change the tense of the final word, iii. add articles to the beginning of your word/phrase ["the"/"a/an"]).

We are going to be strict about keeping within these limits because ... after all, we are playing shiritori XD.

But from now on, when a shiritori chain gets broken, instead of the next person being allowed to choose their own start word, they will have the same previous start word. Example:

Kara: "...Kitayama had a belated growth spurt in his dreams and became tall."
Rin: begins the fic fine, but breaks the shiritori chain by ending with "Don't die, Fujigaya." (proper noun)
Rosie: inherits the final word from Kara's drabble ("tall") to use as her start word.

Please ask questions if this is unclear! :D

So Team 2 is defunct at the moment and the three of us (Me, Rosie, Kara) were talking about possibly putting the comm on hiatus for a bit.

Basically the end of the year is always crazy. If it's not holidays or exams, it's something else (moving across the world, anyone?) and I myself was planning on not writing here until after November because of NaNo.

So we thought we'd ask you what you wanted. There are some options.

1) We keep playing on. Those who need time will just hiatus which means we'll probably combine back into one team until the end of the year.

2) Shiritori goes on hiatus until a future date. That date will be decided by feedback from comm members, so if you vote for hiatus, please leave a comment below about why.

Now that the cycle is over we'll be splitting everyone into teams this weekend and starting the new cycle. Kira-shadow's word egos will still carry over and be the start word. Reminder that the sign-up post and an explanation on what teams are is - here - so please sign-up if you have not yet done so but of course anyone is still free to join or leave whenever they want. If you have any questions about teams you can ask here or there.

Also, it was decided to bring back the 3 day time limit for turns since 2 days did seem a bit too rushed.
